Personal Injury Paralegal
We are seeking an experienced Personal Injury Paralegal with a strong background working specifically in personal injury law. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, proactive, professional, and capable of independently managing cases and anticipating the next steps needed to keep matters moving toward resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare settlement disbursements and assist with the closing and distribution of personal injury settlements.
Request, track, and resolve health insurance liens, including Medicaid and Medicare final liens.
Request and maintain medical records and billing statements using platforms such as ChartSwap, MRO, Datavant, and similar systems.
Communicate professionally with clients and confidently answer questions regarding:
Follow-up medical treatment
Property damage claims
Rental vehicle setup and related matters
Prepare and maintain witness and exhibit lists.
Assist with and prepare responses to discovery requests.
Draft pleadings, correspondence, affidavits, and other legal documents.
File pleadings with the appropriate Clerks of Court, including determining the proper number of certified copies, citations, and other filing requirements.
Understand when a private investigator may be necessary and coordinate the hiring and assignment process.
Prepare Affidavits of Service and Affidavits of No Other Insurance.
Track deadlines, case activity, outstanding records, liens, discovery, and other case-related tasks.
Maintain accurate and organized case files from intake through settlement or litigation.
Recognize what needs to happen next on a case and take the initiative to move tasks through completion without requiring constant direction.
Communicate respectfully and professionally with clients, attorneys, medical providers, insurance representatives, court personnel, and other parties.
Qualifications
Previous personal injury paralegal experience is required.
Strong working knowledge of the personal injury case process from initial claim through settlement and/or litigation.
Experience requesting medical records, bills, insurance liens, Medicare and Medicaid liens.
Familiarity with ChartSwap, MRO, and Datavant preferred.
Experience drafting and filing pleadings and working with Clerks of Court.
Knowledge of discovery procedures, service requirements, citations, affidavits, witness lists, and exhibit preparation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize multiple cases, deadlines, and responsibilities.
Must be dependable, respectful, professional, and comfortable communicating directly with clients.
