Position Title: Medical Coder / Billing Specialist
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM Compensation: Starting at approximately $17/hour, based on experience and qualifications Benefits: Paid holidays when office is closed
Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Medical Coder / Billing Specialist to join our team. This position is responsible for medical equipment and/or healthcare services billing, communicating with patients and insurance companies, and managing billing-related tasks using our in-house software system. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment with heavy computer use and strong multitasking demands.
Responsibilities
Process and submit medical equipment and/or healthcare service billing accurately and timely
Review accounts and maintain accurate billing documentation
Communicate professionally with patients regarding billing questions and account information
Contact insurance companies to verify claims status, resolve issues, and obtain necessary information
Utilize company-specific billing software for data entry and account management
Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA guidelines
Assist with general administrative and office support duties as needed
Manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
Qualifications
Previous medical billing and/or coding experience preferred
Knowledge of insurance claims, medical terminology, and billing procedures preferred
Strong computer skills and ability to learn proprietary software systems
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to multitask and work independently
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Reliable attendance and professional demeanor required
Work Environment
This position involves frequent computer use, phone communication with patients and insurance providers, and working in a busy office setting. Candidates should be comfortable handling multiple responsibilities throughout the day while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
