Medical Billing Assistant – Retina Clinic
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Medical Billing Assistant to support the billing operations of a busy retina clinic. This individual will work closely with the clinic’s billing team to help ensure claims and patient accounts are handled accurately and efficiently.
The ideal candidate is intelligent, teachable and familiar with the medical billing process. They must be able to follow instructions, accept constructive feedback and learn new procedures quickly. Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
Assist with daily medical billing activities
Enter and review patient, insurance and billing information in eCW
Help prepare, submit and monitor insurance claims
Review claims for missing or inaccurate information
Assist with payment posting and account reconciliation
Follow up on unpaid, rejected or denied claims
Maintain accurate documentation of billing activity
Communicate professionally with patients, insurance companies and clinic staff
Protect patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements
Complete additional billing and administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
Previous medical billing experience or working knowledge of the billing process
Experience with eClinicalWorks preferred
Familiarity with insurance claims, billing terminology and payment processes
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Comfortable using computers and learning new systems
Able to take direction and respond positively to feedback
Organized, dependable and able to manage multiple priorities
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Professional attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
